We are delighted to announce the appointment of Simon Beeton as our new chief executive.

Simon will succeed Jane Lewington who will retain her commitment to NAViGO by becoming chair of the board following the retirement of Tom Hunter.

An experience senior executive with a strong operational record, Simon has worked at NAViGO since its formation and has over 25 years’ experience working across mental health and local government.

A passionate advocate for local services and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health, Simon was instrumental in the formation of NAViGO in 2011 and the development of bespoke employment, skills and education services.

Simon said: “It’s a huge honour for me to take on the role of chief executive. I feel extremely proud to lead NAViGO, an organisation I am so passionate about, so much so that my wife refers to it as my third child!

“Having been at NAViGO since its formation, I’ve seen how far we have come, what we have achieved and the positive impact we have had on the local community.

“But I also know that there is so much more we’d like to do and I’m looking forward to working on behalf of our amazing staff, service users, carers and partner organisations to further improve and enhance our services while continuing to provide high-quality care to the people who need our support.”

Simon will lead the organisation through the consequent challenges created by the pandemic and the continued stress placed on mental health services.

He added: “The NHS has been through unprecedented challenges over the last 18 months and we’re certain to see an impact on the demand for our services going forward.

“We’re committed to meeting and responding to those challenges head on.”
