We place service users and their experiences at the heart of our services - which is why we introduced our Experts by Experience programme.
Our panel of Experts by Experience play an important part in helping us to ensure that we develop the organisation by taking your needs into consideration.
Experts by Experience speak to current service users and their families about the care they're receiving to see how processes can be improved.
This helps us gain more information and insight into how we provide care, so we can make any adjustments to benefit service users.
The panel also carry out the annual PLACE (Patient-Led Assessment of the Care Environment) survey on behalf of NHS Digital. This involves analysing the environment of inaptient units and reporting on their findings.
Anyone who has current or previous experience of mental health services, including both service users and those who care for them, can be an Expert by Experience.
For example, you may have:
- been an inpatient in an acute setting
- been detained under the Mental Health Act
- be living with dementia or caring for someone with the condition
