Adult acute inpatient doctor speaking to service user on lodge

If you are looking for support for a child or young person, please visit our dedicated Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services pages.

Sometimes, your mental health problems may be particularly serious.

If your symptoms can’t be managed in the community, you might be admitted to our adult inpatient facility. That might sound scary, but you shouldn’t be too anxious.

Based at the state-of-the-art Harrison House site, our inpatient services are designed to support your privacy and dignity. A lot of care and attention to has gone into developing the lodges to best meet the needs of service users.

Wait – did we say lodges? Don’t we mean wards? Nope – we don’t have wards. We have two modern lodges – Meridian Lodge and Pelham Lodge – that each have comfortable en-suite rooms for up to 11 service users each.

These lodges run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing round-the-clock access to nursing, medical and psychological support, as well as social care, healthcare and occupational therapy.

We’re the envy of many inpatient services across the country and have received national recognition for innovation and patient-centred provision.

Coming to Harrison House for the first time? Here's an overview of what you can expect.

How do I access adult inpatient services?

If you’re in a mental health crisis and need urgent help, call the Single Point of Access on (01472) 256256 and select option 3. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our crisis team will arrange for an assessment that will identify the most appropriate NAViGO service for you. This may be admission to our lodges, home treatment or another course of action depending on your symptoms.

You might already be accessing support from one of our services. If so, you should contact your care coordinator first.

We would ask that, wherever possible, you call the Single Point of Access if you’re in a mental health crisis and need urgent help.

However, if this is not possible, you can walk in to Harrison House and go straight to reception where a member of the crisis team will assess you as soon as possible. This is a 24/7 service.

If you're being admitted on to our lodges for the first time, you are likely to have lots of questions. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions which may help.
